Josh Chapin is an American Award-winning News Personality working at ABC 11 News serving as a Reporter and Fill-in anchor since he joined the station in February 2018. Formerly, Chapin worked at KHOU-TV as a Reporter.
Josh Chapin Career/Education
Chapin studied at Duke University from 2005 to 22009 where he earned his Bachelor of Arts in Classic and Classical Languages, Literatures, and Linguistics. Je further pursued a Master’s course in Broadcast Journalism at Quinnipiac University in the year 2018. He is presently performing his duties as a reporter and a fill-in anchor for the ABC 11 Eyewitness News since he secured a position at the network in February 2018. Josh worked as a general assignment reporter for the CBS station KHOU 11 News in Houston prior to joining the Eyewitness News staff. For over three years, he reported in the biggest city in Texas, covering different stories like the damage and the help given after Hurricane Harvey. In 2017, Josh covered a Final Four, Super Bowl LI, and the Astros’ first World Series victory. When a gunman opened fire in a Lafayette, Louisiana, movie theater in 2015, he covered it for all of TEGNA’s affiliates in the Southeast. Chapin wore cowboy boots while covering the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. He also threw beads into the crowd at the Galveston Mardi Gras.
Josh worked as a reporter and stand-in anchor for WVIT, the NBC affiliate in Hartford, Connecticut, for two years before moving to Texas. He was a member of the Peabody Award-winning team that covered the Sandy Hook Elementary School massacre in 2012. Chapin also covered the aftermath of the Boston Marathon bombings for a week in 2013.
Josh was among the first reporters on the scene of the 2013 train derailment in Bridgeport, which injured over 70 people, and the massive power outage in the Bronx, which severely disrupted train service from New York City to Stamford. He covered a lot of transportation-related stories, with a focus on Metro North. Chapin started his career in television journalism as a desk assistant at News 12 The Bronx and Brooklyn. He eventually rose to become the station’s lead reporter and weekend anchor.
