Austin enrolled at The University of Missouri-Columbia and graduated in 2019 with a Bachelor’s in journalism. When he finished school, he moved to Lincoln, Nebraska: the home of the University of Nebraska. During his time there, he covered many topics including casino gaming, capitol coverage, and severe weather coverage.
Before relocating to the South, Jared spent his entire life in the Midwest. He grew up in Aurora, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago. He is a fan of the Chicago Bulls, Blackhawks, and Bears, but he roots for the Minnesota Twins in baseball.
Jared’s love for a warmer climate is what set him to move to East Tennessee where he currently works as a weekend morning anchor and Multimedia journalist. He is very happy to be working in a place with so many great places to hike and so close to the Smoky Mountains.
