Joel Brown Biography

Joel Brown is an American Journalist working at ABC 11 News serving as an anchor since he became part of the network in September 2011. Formerly, Brown worked at CBS News as a Correspondent.

Joel Brown Career/Education

Brown studied at Howard University from 1997 to 2001 where he received his Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Education. Joel is presently performing his duties at ABC 11 Eyewitness News as an anchor since he joined the station in September 2011. He is the anchor between noon and 4 pm. At eleven pm, you may also see his reports from the Triangle.

Brown worked as a Washington-based correspondent for CBS NewsPath, the network’s affiliate service, prior to joining The Eyewitness News Team. He covered politics from Capitol Hill and the White House for almost 4 years. In addition, he spent weeks on the road covering the historic 2008 election for president while monitoring national news stories. Joel was present at the Kennedy Space Center to cover the NASA space shuttle program’s last launch live.

Brown worked as a reporter and stand-in anchor for WSVN, Miami’s creative Fox affiliate, for three years while residing in South Florida. His “break-out” piece, which covered the minute-by-minute facts of the Terri Schiavo “right to die” case, was published in the year 2005. He also had the opportunity to cover a fair portion of tropical weather, including the busiest hurricane season ever in 2005. Joel started his career in news broadcasting at Tyler, Texas’s KETK, an NBC affiliate, prior to moving to Miami. He was the station’s 5.00 anchor and education beat reporter until he moved out of east Texas.
