Rongholt attended Lakeville North High School, where he earned his high school diploma. After graduating in 2004, he enrolled at St. Cloud State University – Herberger Business School, where he completed a Bachelor of Science in Mass Communication. Before moving to Gainesville, Florida, Rongholt was the weekend sports anchor for WGEM-TV in Quincy, IL, and the Tri-States leader in Iowa, Missouri, and Illinois. Here, Rongholt enjoyed covering a variety of sports, including regional, district, and state championships in basketball, volleyball, baseball, football, and golf. He also shared award recognition for Best Sportscast and Best Sports Team in all three states.
