Thomas attended the University of Alabama, where she pursued her bachelor’s degree in broadcast news and geography. During her time in Alabama, Thomas experienced firsthand the devastating tornado outbreak on April 27, 2011. After graduating in 2012, she enrolled at Mississippi State University and completed a master’s degree in broadcast meteorology. While attending MSU, she was a teaching assistant in the Department of Communications and also worked as a meteorologist at WCBI in Columbus, MS.
