Bill Bryant Biography
Bill Bryant is an American Award-Winning Anchor and Reporter working as an Anchor and Managing Editor at WKYT-TV in Lexington, Kentucky. He is also the host of Kentucky Newsmakers a weekly current affairs interview program at the station. He joined WKYT in May 1984 after working as a News Anchor and Announcer at WEKC in Williamsburg, Kentucky.
Education | Career
Bryant attended and graduated from the University of Cumberlands in 1983. He then joined Eastern Kentucky University graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in Broadcasting and Political Science in 1985. While in college he worked as a News Director and Announcer at WEZJ & TV-3 and as a News Anchor and Announcer at WEKC.
He currently serves as a Managing Editor and Anchor at WKYT-TV in Lexington, Kentucky. He joined the station in May 1984 and has been working there ever since. At WKYT, Bill has covered it all from the police beat to natural disasters to inaugurations.
Political coverage has been his main focus and in the mid-1980s he started the “Kentucky Newsmakers” program. Bill has interviewed 14 Kentucky governors, several US Senators, and other state and national leaders in politics and business.
Bill assumed his anchoring duties in 1986 and currently co-anchors our evening and nighttime newscasts. Further, Bill has also had a strong voice in editorial matters and was in charge of the news department for a time as interim news director.
He is also the host of ‘Comment on Kentucky’ for Kentucky Educational Television. Over the years of his professional career, he has received numerous awards and nominations. He has been honored by the Associated Press for reporting and anchoring and is a proud member of the EKU Hall of Distinguished Alumni and the Williamsburg High School Hall of Fame. Recently, Bill received the statewide media award from the Daughters of the American Revolution.
