Nikki-Dee Ray is an American Meteorologist working as a Weekday Morning Meteorologist at WTVF NewsChannel 5 in Nashville, Tennessee. Before joining her current station she worked as a Morning and Noon Meteorologist at WTVR-TV in Richmond, Virginia.
Education | Career
Ray attended and graduated from Auburn University in 2007 with a degree in Radio, Television, and Digital Communication. She then joined Mississippi State University, earning her Bachelor of Science in Atmospheric Sciences in 2010. She began her career in Lubbock, TX where she soon became the nation’s youngest female chief meteorologist. While there she worked as a Talk Show Host and Chief Meteorologist at KLBK-TV. She served the station for 4 years and 10 months leaving in February 2015.
Ray currently works as a Weekday Morning Meteorologist at WTVF NewsChannel 5 in Nashville, Tennessee. Before joining WTVF she worked as a Morning and Noon Meteorologist at WTVR-TV in Richmond, Virginia.
During her tenure in Texas, she led a team of Texas meteorologists through numerous severe weather events and was awarded Best Local TV Weathercaster in 2013 and 2014. She was even named Style Weekly’s “Best Meteorologist” each year between 2016 to 2019 among other community awards. Further Ray has won many Emmys, awards, and recognitions, but she is known by her viewing audiences for her forecasting accuracy, style, personality, and faith.
While she has always been passionate about weather, what she is most passionate about is serving her community, educating children on weather and fostering excitement about STEM, and advocating for those with special abilities. Ray strives to be accessible and available to her community so that she can help make a difference at the end of the day.
