Austin Pollack Biography
Austin Pollack is an American Emmy Award Winning Anchor and Reporter working as a Multimedia Journalist at WTVF NewsChannel 5 in Nashville, Tennessee. He has been part of the station since November 2023 and is honored to be part of the NewChannel 5’s news team. Before joining his current station he worked as a Reporter at WLEX-TV in Lexington, Kentucky. He joined the station in July 2021 and left in November 2023 after 2 years and 5 months of service.
Education | Career
Pollack attended and graduated from Newton South High School in 2011 with a High School Diploma. He then joined Syracuse University graduating in 2015 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Broadcast and Digital Journalism. While in college he interned at New England Sports Network as a New Media Intern and Massachusetts Law Group.
Pollack currently serves as a Multimedia Journalist at NewsChannel 5 in Nashville, Tennessee. He joined the station in November 2023 after working as a Reporter at WLEX-TV in Lexington, Kentucky. He also worked as a Morning and Noon Anchor at WITN-TV in Greenville, North Carolina.
During his tenure in Lexington, he was honored with five Ohio Valley Regional Emmy nominations. Further, Austin was named the multimedia journalist Regional Emmy winner for his work in 2023. He finished as runner-up for top multimedia journalist by the Kentucky Broadcasters Association for his work in 2022.
Austin covered stories of lost photos being sent back to families in western Kentucky after the devastating tornadoes in 2021. Pollack also covered two Kentucky Derbys, including the long-shot Rich Strike winning the 2021 Derby at 80-1 odds.
Originally Austin wanted to pursue a baseball career, but he quickly realized he wasn’t good enough to play beyond high school. Before the news, he was the play-by-play broadcaster for a minor league affiliate of the Cleveland Guardians. Additionally, he also spent a summer as a broadcaster in the Alaska Baseball League.
