Meghan Torjussen is an American reporter serving at WMTW News 8 as a News Anchor, Reporter, and Content Creator. She joined the Station in September 2010 after working as a weekend anchor and general assignment reporter.
Meghan Torjussen Career | Education
Torjussen attended Boston University in September 2006 and graduated with a Master of Arts in Broadcast Journalism in June 2008. Before joining her current station, she anchored weekends and was a general assignment reporter from Monday to Friday. She worked in Wilmington, North Carolina four years as an anchor and reporter at WNBC.
She then joined WMTW News 8 in the Portland, Maine Metropolitan Area as a News Anchor, Reporter, and Content Creator. Torjussen has been working for the station for almost fourteen years. She anchors for WMTW News 8 at noon, 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. She has helped found award-winning newscasts, such as the 10 p.m. on Maine’s CW and the WMTW News 8 at 4 p.m., which received a Best Newscast award in its first year.
Torjussen has reported some of the biggest stories in the Portland, Maine Metropolitan Area for instance the demise of President George H.W. Bush, even journeying to Houston to cover his funeral and the Boston Marathon bombing. In addition to that, she reported several stories surrounding the coronavirus pandemic, such as an in-depth look at learning loss in their schools.
She has hosted and donated to station-produced specials that range in topics from gun violence to Portland’s asylum seeker surge. Greatly rooted in the community, she sits on the Art in the Park committee in South Portland and So Po Unite, a group committed to curbing drug and alcohol use among young people.
