Kristy Steward is an American journalist serving at WTKR News 3 as a Meteorologist. She joined the Station in May 2021, after working as a Morning and Noon Meteorologist for WNKY.

After completing high school, Steward embarked on her academic journey at Penn State University, where she obtained a bachelor’s degree in atmospheric sciences and meteorology. During her time there, she gained practical experience as a weather intern at KTTC TV and WRAL. Nevertheless, these experiences enhanced her skills in meteorology and weather forecasting. It also provides valuable hands-on training and real-world application of her academic knowledge.
Subsequently, during her tenure at the University, from August 2014 to May 2018, Steward honed a diverse set encompassing television, radio, communication, online, and broadcast journalism. She also served in leadership, web content writing, and many other roles. Additionally, she contributed her expertise at WGTA in Greater Atlanta from February 2020 to May 2020. This showcased her proficiency in television, communication, multitasking, broadcasting, meteorology, and weather forecasting.
Kristy transitioned at WNKY from May 2018 to May 2021, serving as the morning and noon meteorologist. Throughout her time in south-central Kentucky, she provided coverage for various weather phenomena, including flooding, droughts, tornadoes, and tropical remnants, sparking a passion for forecasting hurricanes. Nevertheless, inspired by the active 2020 hurricane season, Kristy also developed a desire to relocate closer to the beach and immerse herself in tropical weather.
Steward Steward later transitioned to WTKR TV in May 2021, where she still works to date. She serves as a weekend evening meteorologist. Additionally, she appears at 10 p.m. on WGNT every Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. Moreover, she joined the First Warning Storm team at the same time, seamlessly integrating her expertise into the station on a full-time basis.
