Kelsey Jones is an American journalist serving at WTKR News 3 as a Newport News native. She joined the Station in October 2021 after working as a Chantilly Bureau reporter at WDVM25.

After graduating from high school, Kelsey began her academic journey at Virginia Commonwealth University, earning her Bachelor’s in Broadcast Journalism and Mass Communications in 2019. She also interned with WRIC 8News in 2018 to gain experience in news and sales departments. During her internship, she reported breaking news, shadowed anchors, covered events, wrote scripts, produced shows, and assisted with client calls. This internship fueled her passion for journalism and the media landscape.
Before her tenure at News 3 in Northern Virginia, Jones served as a Chantilly Bureau reporter for WDVM25 in Hagerstown, Maryland. During her time there, she extensively covered a range of significant events, including Black Lives Matter protests in Washington, D.C., the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, the 2021 Virginia primary elections, and Governor Ralph Northam’s historic legalization of marijuana.
Transitioning from her previous role, Kelsey embarked on a new journey when she joined the News 3 team in October 2021, where she continues to work to date. Furthermore, this transition marks a significant full-circle moment for her, as she now finds herself employed by the station she grew up watching as a Newport News native. With enthusiasm and dedication, Kelsey is thrilled to report to the very community she holds dear, bringing with her a deep-rooted connection and passion to her work.
