Kavanagh attended Cherry Hill High School West from 1996 to 2000. Following that, she enrolled at Rutgers University from 2000 to 2004, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in journalism. Throughout her time at Rutgers, she actively engaged in various activities and societies, notably Gamma Phi Beta. Subsequently, she pursued her Master of Business Administration with a concentration in Business Administration and Management at Longwood University. Kavanagh later joined Central Florida News 13 from March 2009 to February 2015, where she served as a television reporter. During her tenure, she had the opportunity to cover high-profile cases, such as the Casey Anthony Trial and the George Zimmerman Trial, as well as the end of the space shuttle program. Additionally, Margaret flew to Haiti in 2014 to report and produce a half-hour segment on changes to the country since the massive earthquake five years prior. Later on, she transitioned to WTKR News 3 in February 2015 as a reporter and has remained in this role to the present.
