Barclay Bishop Biography
Barclay Bishop is an American General Assignment Reporter serving at WJBF as a co-anchor. She joined the Station in August 2016 after working as a reporter and anchor at WAGT NBC 26 TODAY.
Barclay Bishop’s Career | Education
Bishop joined Hampton High School in 1999 and graduated in 2003. She then enrolled at West Virginia University in 2003 and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Broadcast Journalism in 2007. She began her broadcasting career at WJBF News Channel 6 in the Augusta, Georgia Area where she worked as a Weekend Anchor and General Assignment Reporter from June 2007 to October 2010.
At WJBF News, she Pitched and produced news stories from within the community, Made public appearances on behalf of the news station, Worked under extreme deadlines, Shot, wrote, edited, and presented current news stories on air. Bishop left and joined VeryVera in the Augusta, Georgia Area in October 2010 as an Event Coordinator and left in April 2011.
After working as an Event Coordinator, she joined Doctors Hospital of Augusta still in the same area as Public Relations Manager. There, she worked for almost two years building media relationships for a 354-bed hospital and the largest burn center in the U.S., the Joseph M. Still Burn Center and assisted the Director of Marketing with public relations and advertising plans for major campaigns.
In January 2013, she rejoined WJBF News Channel 6 and worked as a reporter and anchor until November 2013. There, she shot, wrote, edited, and presented current news stories live on air, and Pitched and produced daily local news stories.
Bishop then anchored and reported for WAGT NBC 26 TODAY in Augusta, GA since November 2013. She now anchors and reports Good Morning Augusta at WJBF News Channel 6 since May 2016. She loves Augusta because she anchors and reports her work in the community outside of the station.
Through her service organization “Barclay’s Believers” Bishop commits her time to helping those in the CSRA. She launched her organization in 2015 and since then, she has assisted in raising over 150,000 dollars for the Lymphoma and Leukemia Society. Through her involvement with ‘All In Augusta’, Stevens Creek Church, and the Rotary Club of Augusta she continues to help the CSRA.
