From 1996 to 1998, Brian studied Mass Communication at Campbell University, engaging in campus activities by working at the campus radio station and contributing articles to the campus newspaper. However, he left the university to pursue full-time employment at WRAL-TV. Later, he returned to Campbell University as a part-time student for one year, continuing his studies in Mass Communication while honing his organizational skills.

Subsequently, Shrader pursued a Bachelor of Science degree in Geological and Earth Sciences/Geosciences with a concentration in Broadcast and Operational Meteorology at Mississippi State University from 2017 to 2020. Throughout his academic journey, he continued to develop and demonstrate strong organizational skills.

Brian started working while studying, as an assignment editor and web producer at WRAL-TV from November 1996 to April 2001, he coordinated daily news coverage and managed newsroom projects.
