Gerald Owens is an American Italian journalist serving at WRAL-TV in Raleigh, North Carolina, as a news anchor. Additionally, he joined the station in 2002 after working as a news anchor for WUSA TV.

Owens attended Guilford College in Greensboro where he majored in business. He practiced his business career at a small plastics company in Maryland. Eventually, after 13 years, Gerald was promoted to a general manager position. Later, he went to the University of Maryland, graduating with a Bachelor in Journalism.

Gerald started his new career as an intern at ABC News “Nightline” during Operation Desert Shield in 1990. In 1993, he got his first job in television at WUSA-TV in Washington, D.C, serving as a reporter trainee. Afterward, Owens transitioned to a political reporter and anchor at WTKR-TV in Norfolk in 1995.

Owens returned to WUSA-TV as a morning show anchor, where he worked for about 3 years. Currently, he’s working as a news anchor at WRAL-TV since 2002.
