Chris Gilmore Biography
Chris Gilmore is an American reporter serving at WPTV as a News anchor. He joined the Station in May 2019 after working as a News Reporter for the same station.
Chris Gilmore Career | Education
Gilmore graduated from the University of Florida College with a bachelor’s degree in communication and a minor in anthropology. At the University, he was WUFT’s Master Control Operator for three years and one month.
He began his profession at WUFT-TV where he anchored the morning “First Edition,” newscast and reported evening news shows from September 2009 to December 2011. In September 2010, he started working as a self-employed Freelance Photographer till May 2012.
After working there, he joined WCJB TV20 as a Multimedia Journalist and Reporter. There he reported Enterprised general assignment stories affecting North Central Floridians and researched news coming out of the University of Florida for two years and one month.
Gilmore then left and worked for WBBH NBC 2 in Fort Myers, Florida, United States as a Reporter from June 2014 to April 2016. There, he Anchored evening news updates, Contributed to extensive live hurricane reporting from the field and served as a lead nightside reporter.
He then left WBBH NBC 2 and began to work for Griffin Communications in the Oklahoma City, Oklahoma area for three years and one month as a reporter. There, he Filled in on the anchor desk for noon and weekend newscasts, Covered breaking news with live field reporting severe weather, and Presented live shots every morning on the top stories from across the state.
After working in Oklahoma City, he worked for The E.W. Scripps Company in the West Palm Beach, Florida Area as a news reporter since May 2019. Currently, he works for WPTV NewsChannel 5 in the West Palm Beach, Florida Area as a news anchor. Here, he anchors every weekday morning show on partner station WFLX. After working on several oral history projects while growing up, he still wasn’t sure if he wanted to be a journalist or not.
When he began working in South Florida closer to friends, the family, he realized that being a journalist was a calling. In his spare time, he is likely to be with a camera in his hand, exploring community events and eateries with friends.
