Brooke Laizer Biography
Brooke Laizer is an American Award-winning Weather Forecaster working at WGNO News, serving as a Meteorologist since she joined the station in August 2019. Formerly, Laizer worked at RX Global as a Freelance Talks Host and Emcee.
Brooke Laizer Career/Education
A graduate of Mississippi State University and Mount Carmel Academy, Brooke got a bachelor’s degree in geoscience and was named the best college weathercast in Louisiana and Mississippi by the Associated Press in the spring of 2017.
Laizer is presently performing her duties as a meteorologist at WGNO News since she secured a position at the network in August 2019. Brooke, a Metairie native, began studying atmospheric science in the fifth grade after Hurricane Katrina!
She worked as an intern in New Orleans throughout her undergraduate studies and then in Washington, DC. Across the country, Laizer has shadowed Good Morning America forecasters while studying under ABC News Chief Meteorologist Ginger Zee.
During her Great Plains Storm Chasing Elective, which took place off campus, Laizer particularly liked tracking storms throughout Midwestern states. During her Disaster Survey Course in the Bahamas and San Salvador Island, Brooke absolutely loved assessing damage totals to rebuild the community damaged by Hurricane Joaquin.
Serving Jackson, Mississippi, Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, and Augusta, Georgia, Laizer started her career in aviation right away. Now, Brooke is grateful to be able to fulfill a lifetime passion of hers: forecasting for Good Morning New Orleans, the city that first ignited her career eighteen years ago. Serving the community in which her heart has always been has proven to be incredibly satisfying; this was especially true while covering Hurricane Ida.
