Walt Buteau Biography
Walt Buteau is an American Award-winning Journalist working at WFLA News, serving as an Investigative Reporter since he joined the station in January 2021. Formerly, Buteau worked at WPRI as an Investigative Reporter.
Walt Buteau Career/Education
Buteau studied at San Diego State University from the year 1980 to 1980 and earned his Bachelor of Arts in Journalism with a minor in English. He is currently performing his duties at WFLA News as an Investigative reporter since he secured a position at the network in January 2021.
His goal in journalism is to refute the cliche that “life is not supposed to be fair.” Walt relishes the chance to find justice and provide the audience with the information they require. Walt enjoys investigating and accomplishing tasks, whether it’s finding out about misused public money, standing up to bullies in public or private settings, or helping veterans get the benefits they deserve
Since becoming part of 8 on Your Side in the year 2021, Buteau has helped dissatisfied veterans receive VA benefits they earned while serving, broken multiple new developments in the Piney Point environmental disaster, and exposed fraudulent government loans taken out in the names of Bay Area residents without their knowledge.
Over time, he showed off a bunch of government-owned electric cars that were good for the environment because they weren’t used much. He made a local politician give back a lot of money because of a conflict of interest. He also told people about a rule against bullying in school that nobody paid attention to until he spoke up, and then they started following it
Buteau has also covered a wide range of breaking news stories, including hurricanes and Nor’easters in New England, tornadoes in the Midwest and South, and more. Within hours of 9/11, he was in Manhattan, and for the next week, he provided live reports from the city. He was among the first reporters to arrive at the scene of the Station nightclub fire, which took 100 lives two years later.
