Randy Shaver Biography

Randy Shaver is an American Award-winning Journalist working at KARE 11 News, an affiliate of NBC, serving as a co-anchor since 2012. He first joined the station as a sports reporter in 1983 prior to his promotion to his current role.

Shaver studied at Iowa State University, where he earned his bachelor’s degree. He is currently performing his duty as a co-anchor since the year 2012. He and Julie Nelson were assigned the evening news co-anchors at five, six, and ten o’clock.

Randy first became part of the network serving as a sports reporter from 1983. From 1994 until 2012, he served as KARE 11’s Sports Director. In 2006, he was the recipient of both a regional and National Edward R. Murrow award for sports activities reporting. Shaver was honored when he received induction into the Minnesota Football Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 2004. He is a football and track member of the Cedar Rapids Jefferson Hall of Fame.

Shaver is the host of the Rush Creek Golf Club Randy Shaver Celebrity Golf Classic, which raises money for the Randy Shaver Community and Cancer Research Fund. Since 1995, Randy has contributed to the raising of over $6.5 million for cancer research and patient assistance in Minnesota. In June 1998, he received a diagnosis of Hodgkin’s disease and is now cancer-free.
