Amber Rupinta Biography
Amber Rupinta is an American Journalist working at ABC 11 News serving as an anchor and a part-time Meteorologist since she joined the station in February 2004. Formerly, Rupinta worked at WCAU as an anchor and reporter.
Amber Rupinta Career/Education
Amber obtained a degree certificate in technology and communication from UNC-Chapel Hill in the year 2016, after completing Mississippi State’s Meteorology Certificate program. She received her second Bachelor of Science in Geoscience from MSU in August 2017. Furthermore, Towson University has her as one of its graduates.
Rupinta is presently performing her duties as an anchor and reporter since she obtained employment at the network. She is the anchor of ABC11 Eyewitness News’ noon and 4 p.m. newscasts. In addition, she covers a variety of Triangle-area stories as a meteorologist. After securing a position at the station, Amber spent the following five years co-anchoring the weekend morning shows. She then worked as an early riser for ABC11 Eyewitness News This Morning for eight years before switching to the evening team.
Rupinta has covered several high-profile stories for ABC11, including the presidential campaigns of Donald Trump, Hillary Clinton, and Barack Obama battling for North Carolina voters, several hurricanes, a terrorist attack at UNC-Chapel Hill, the explosion of the Conagra plant, and the eight-person Carthage nursing home massacre.
Amber used to work for WHAG in Hagerstown, Maryland, and WCAU, the Philadelphia NBC station, before joining WTVD. Additionally, she worked for the Baltimore Sun High School Sports Show where she played her role as a reporter. Rupinta started her career working behind the scenes at WJZ in Baltimore.
Amber was raised on the Cherokee Indian Reservation for several years, hence she has experience in the Carolinas. She is the eighth child and a “military brat,” having grown up in several exotic locations across the United States. Rupinta is a member of the National Weather Association and the Asian-American Journalists Association.
