Wale Aliyu Biography
Wale Aliyu is a Nigerian-American Emmy Award Anchor and Reporter working as an Evening Anchor at ABC10 alongside Kimberly Hunt. He joined the station in October 2022 after working as a reporter and anchor for Boston 25 News.
Wale Aliyu Career | Education
Aliyu joined the University of Missouri-Columbia in 2004 and graduated in 2007 with a Bachelor of Arts in Convergence Journalism with an emphasis in Broadcast. Aliyu began his career in 2007 as a Reporter for Columbia Missourian where he worked for a year leaving the station in December 2007. he also served as a Reporter for KBIA 91.3 FM.
In July 2008, he joined KMIZ-TV in Columbia, Missouri Area as a Reporter. he left the station in December 2008 and landed a job as an Anchor for Newsy.com. Aliyu left Newy.com in December 2009 and in July 2010 Wale landed a job as a Reporter, Anchor, and New Media Producer for ABC22/FOX45.
In August 2014, he got a job as a multimedia journalist and Reporter for WKYC-TV in Cleveland, Ohio. While there, he was responsible for gathering, shooting, writing, editing, and vicing news packages for various newscasts and websites. After leaving WKYC-TV in July 2016 he joined NBC New York as a Reporter. He then joined WFXT Boston 25 News in August 2019. Boston 25 News was his last stop before joining his current station ABC10 in October 2022 as an Evening Anchor.
His stay in ABC10 has been interesting, he guided viewers through the COVID-19 pandemic, the nightly protests after the murder of George Floyd, and a few deep playoff runs. Additionally, he developed several series showcasing the challenges of policing in Massachusetts before and after 2020. As of 2024, he is an active member of the National Association of Black Journalists San Diego chapter.
