Melissa Mecija is an American Anchor and Reporter working as a Weekday Morning Anchor and Reporter for ABC10 News, she joined the station in July 2010 after working as a Video journalist and assignment reporter for KCBS/KCAL.

Mecija attended and graduated from UC Irvine with an honors degree in political science and a degree in psychology. After graduating, she began her career as a weekend anchor and reporter for KYMA in El Centro, California. While there she covered visits by former President George W. Bush to the area, uncovered underground drug tunnels, and also reported on President Gerald Ford’s funeral services.

Melissa also worked as a fill-in anchor and weather forecaster for KSBY in Santa Barbara. During her tenure there, she covered several major wildfires and numerous high-profile cases that hit national and international headlines. One of her memorable stories is covering the conviction of Jesse James Hollywood and the death of pop star Michael Jackson.
