Dan Lucas is an American News Personality working at WFLA News, serving as a Sports Anchor and Reporter since he joined the station in June 2001. Formerly, Lucas worked at WJAC-TV as a Weekend Sports Anchor and Reporter.
Dan Lucas Career/Education
Lucas studied at Leto High School, he later joined Florida State University from the year 1989 to the year 1993 and earned his Bachelor of Science in Communications. He is currently performing his duties as a sports anchor and reporter for WFLA News since he secured a position at the network in June of 2001. After being put through his paces, Dan, a Tampa native, went back to his hometown to resume his job at the local TV station.
He covered Penn State as well as all of the Pittsburgh teams (Penguins, Steelers, Pirates, and University of Pittsburgh) during his first employment as a weekend sports anchor at WJAC-TV in Johnstown, Pennsylvania.
Lucas will never forget covering the undefeated Penn State team in the Rose Bowl in 1995, the Pirates’ final game at Three Rivers Stadium. He worked nonstop for two weeks during the Bucs’ Super Bowl run and got champagne poured all over his suit while doing interviews in the Lightning locker room after the Stanley Cup victory.

Lucas enjoys traveling, playing golf, and running. Like many guys, he acknowledges that he is a baseball addict and that his life’s goal is to visit every Major League ballpark.
