Ashley Kirklen Biography
Ashley Kirklen is an American Emmy Award Winning Anchor and Reporter working as a Weekday Anchor and Reporter at WLWT Cincinnati, Ohio. She anchors the 4, 5:30, and 7 pm newscasts. She has been part of the station since August 2018 and is honored to serve the Cincinnati, Ohio people. Before joining her current station she worked as a Morning Anchor and Reporter at WGZA in Macon, Georgia.
Education | Career
Kirklen attended and graduated from Indiana University Bloomington with a Degree in Journalism. While in college she interned and worked at different stations across the state. She has the opportunity to intern as a Production Intern at WTIU/PBS Affiliate in Bloomington, Indiana. She also worked as an ESL Teacher and Editorial Assistant at GEPIK in Seoul, South Korea.
Ashley currently works as a Weekday Anchor and Reporter at WLWT News Five in Cincinnati, Ohio. She anchors the station’s 4, 5:30, and 7 pm newscasts. Some of her career highlights are covering presidential elections, and interviewing candidates and vice presidents.
Ashle has also been part of coverage of major events like Super Bowl LVI, the protests following the murder of George Floyd, and the Fifth Third Bank Shooting in Downtown Cincinnati. She joined WLWT in August 2018 and has been working there ever since.
Before joining her current station she worked as a Morning Anchor and Reporter at WGXA in Macon, Georgia. She joined the station in August 2018 and after 3 years and 1 month, she left the station in August 2018. She has also worked at WLUC-TV 6 in Marquette, MI as a Reporter and MMJ and at ESPN UP 93.3 FM as an On-Air Host and Producer.
When off her duties, Ashley has a heart for her community and helping organizations supporting children’s initiative, and cancer research and is active in her church community. She is among the few people who believe in giving back to the community and lending a helping hand where possible.
