Liz Quirantes Biography
Liz Quirantes is an American Emmy Award-Winning Anchor and Reporter working as a 5, 5:30, 6, and 11 pm news anchor at CBS 12 in West Palm Beach, Florida. She joined CBS 12 in 1991 and is one of the few journalists who are passionate about supporting children’s causes. She even features a foster child up for adoption in her “Forever Family” segment which has resulted in many adoptions.
Education | Career
Quirantes attended and graduated from the University of Miami with a Bachelor’s Degree in Broadcast Journalism and a Master’s Degree in Telecommunication. She currently serves as a 5, 5:30, 6, and 11 pm news anchor at CBS 12 in West Palm Beach, Florida. She joined the station in 1991 and is honored to serve the West Palm Beach folk.
Liz is dedicated to supporting children’s causes and features a foster child up for adoption in her “Forever Family” Segment. This segment has resulted in many adoptions. Her passion for children is why she served on the board of directors for ChildNet. The organization manages the child welfare system in Broward and Palm Beach counties and protects abused, abandoned, and neglected children.
Further, she serves on the Advisory Board for AVDA, which promotes violence-free relationships and social change by offering choices to end violence and domestic abuse. She also served for 10 years as a board member of the H.O.P.E. Project, which provided low-cost mammography to the underserved and uninsured women of Palm Beach and Martin counties.
Over the years of her professional career, she has won numerous awards and recognitions. Most recently, she received two Suncoast Regional Emmy Awards. One of the awards was for her reporting in the Bahamas in the devastating aftermath of Hurricane Dorian and another for her reporting during the Parkland school shooting.
Additionally, Liz was honored as a “Palm Beach Achiever” and graced the debut cover of Palm Beach Woman Magazine. She was named a Hispanic Woman of Distinction for South Florida, given the Women in Power award from the National Council of Jewish Women and the “Community Leadership award from Delta Kappa Gamma.
