Tisha earned a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from Virginia Tech. GO HOKIES! Additionally, she studied abroad in Cuernavaca, Mexico, where she graduated from La Universidad de Internacional with a certification in Spanish. She is currently performing her duties as an anchor and reporter at FOX 5 News since she secured a position at the network in February 2011.
Lewis’s career in broadcast journalism started in 2002 when she worked behind the scenes at Fox News Channel in New York, where she worked on Geraldo Rivera’s At Large and Rita Cosby’s The Big Story Weekend Edition. After two years, she started working as a reporter and stand-in anchor at Bakersfield, California’s KGET, an NBC station.
At the age of 14, Lewis had her first television experience as a “Posse Member” on the Washington, D.C.-based chat show Teen Summit on Black Entertainment Television. She had an appearance on BET in Kaiser Permanente’s nationwide “Rap-It-Up” PSA, which raised awareness of HIV and AIDS.
Tisha loved music and played the violin for two years, the alto B saxophone for three years, and classical piano for more than ten years before she started chasing news! She also had a performance with the DC Youth Ensemble, which is housed at Washington, D.C.’s Duke Ellington School of Performing Arts. Additionally, she belongs to Jack and Jill of America Incorporated, The Screen Actors Guild – American Federation of Television and Radio Artists, and the National Association of Black Journalists.

After working for FOX 32 News in Chicago, Illinois, for more than four years as a reporter and stand-in anchor, Lewis joined FOX 5 in 2015. She covered the 2012 presidential election, a historic Chicago Teachers Union Strike, and breaking news from NATO’s front lines while she was there. She even spent the night absorbed in Occupy Chicago, taking notes on her iPhone!
Tisha also withstood and made it through the bitter cold of the Windy City, which included the Blizzard of 2011, the Polar Vortex of 2014, and the Blizzard of 2015! Developing Sisters Peak, a youth mentorship program aimed at assisting female students in reaching their pinnacles of success and achievement, was one of her favorite experiences while living in Chicago.
Tisha worked as an anchor and reporter for the FOX affiliate in Indianapolis, Indiana, before coming to join FOX 32 News. She covered topics that made news around the country while she was there, such as the Indianapolis Colts’ run to the Super Bowl XLIV, a deadly case of teen bullying, and Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels’ assessment of 2010. Tisha received the Presidential Lifetime Achievement Award and the President’s Volunteer Service Award on December 3, 2023.
Tisha’s love for telling a compelling tale was sparked by her four years at Miami’s WTVJ, an NBC station! She covered hurricane season in Miami; tensions in Haiti and Cuba, including Fidel Castro’s illness and the subsequent transfer of power in Cuba; the 2008 presidential campaign; President Barack Obama’s inauguration; and the passing of Anna Nicole Smith. Furthermore, she also served as an anchor for news headlines at WSFL, the CW affiliate in Miami, where she was part of the first cast of “The Morning Show.”.
