Dee Griffin Biography
Dee Griffin is an American reporter serving at WJBF as a co-anchor. She joined the Station in July 2017 after working as a public information officer, fire safety educator, and spokesperson for the Augusta/Georgia Government.

Griffin attended Aquinas High School and then joined Fisk University in Nashville, Tennessee where she holds a Bachelor of Arts in English. After graduating, she enrolled at Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois where she later graduated with her Master of Science in Journalism.
She co-anchors the 4:30, 5:30, and 7 p.m. newscasts at WJBF News Channel 6. Griffin loves searching for reports to write through the general assignments and long-format stories that air on the station and ME-TV. She is proud of her occupation in television news that has crossed many cities and states including Memphis, TN, Tupelo MS, Hartford, CT, and Kansas City, MO.
Throughout her experience, she has earned numerous awards for her community service and coverage for example an Emmy nomination for her series on domestic violence known as “Hidden Crime” and reporting. The Memphis Alumni chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Incorporated awarded her the “Jesse H. Turner, Senior Community Service Award.”
The Memphis Woman Magazine mentioned her among the “50 Women Who Make A Difference in Memphis.” Griffin was also chosen among the “Top 40 Under 40” by the Memphis Business Journal. She is glad to work with “Leadership Memphis” after graduating in 2005. In 2019, The National Coalition of 100 Black Women, Inc. Metropolitan Atlanta Chapter nominated her as the ”Unsung Heroine Honoree.”
During the Dr. Martin Luther King, Legacy Honor celebration, and Jr Life she served as a recipient of “The Salute to Greatness.” Griffin is an associate of The Links Incorporated (Augusta chapter), Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, and Jack and Jill of America, Incorporated (Augusta chapter). Furthermore, she serves on the Board of Directors for the Burn Foundation of America which helps critically burned patients and their families.

Griffin was married to a violent man who worked in the education sector. The two got married in Augusta before resettling in Boston. So far they are happy parents of a son named Pierce, born on May 12, 2011. On the night before her wedding day, she noticed something strange, her husband fumed at her for coming late while awaiting a surprise she had for him.
Griffin immediately left after the event after her family and friends persuaded her that he had pre-marriage anxiety and a case of cold feet. He pushed her when she was heavily pregnant and after she delivered, he struck, punched, and kicked her.
He was captured and she made up her mind to leave when her son was 5 weeks old. Her mom and sister helped her transition to August but she feared he would attack her again so she used to sleep on the floor at her parent’s house. She then prepared for an annulment and gave up his parental rights.
Despite all her efforts to try and make all ends meet, he didn’t put in any effort and even refused counseling. She’s now using her experience to help her fellow women against domestic violence. Griffin likes to keep a low profile and has hence not disclosed who her husband is as of 2024.
Dee Griffin Family | Parents
Griffin is the daughter of Helen and Albert Griffin Jr. Her dad was a former Sergeant Major who served in the 24th Infantry of the Buffalo Soldiers and battled in the Korean conflict and Vietnam. Sadly, her dad passed on in 2015 and it wasn’t easy for her mom, sister, and herself.
