Frances Peyton Biography
Frances Peyton is an American reporter serving at WPTV as a Meteorologist. She joined the Station in January 2024 after working as a Weekend Evening Meteorologist for WTVR.
Frances Peyton’s Career | Education
Peyton attended Flint Hill School in 2008 and graduated with a diploma in 2012. She then joined Virginia Tech and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Meteorology in 2016. Before graduating, she served as an intern at Noblis in Falls Church, VA from May 2012 to June 2012. She also interned at WSET – ABC 13 in Lynchburg, Virginia Area in 2016.
She then worked for Washington First Bank from July 2013 to January 2015 as a Bank Teller. After working for the Bank, she worked for Arthritis and Sports Orthopaedics and Physical Therapy and Wellness from May 2013 to July 2015 as a Receptionist and clerical work. Here, she handled and scanned patient x-rays and information with discretion, maintaining patient confidentiality.
Her broadcasting career began at WVVA in Bluefield, West Virginia where she worked from September 2016 to June 2017 as a Weekend Meteorologist and Weekday Reporter. In 2018, she worked at Mary Baldwin University in Staunton, VA as a Head Coach. Peyton then left and joined WHSV TV / Gray Television in Harrisonburg, VA as a Morning and Noon Meteorologist for almost two years.
In 2014, she decided to open a small family business Peyton LLC in Great Falls, Virginia that leases out scar and laser hair removal machines. In 2019, she left and worked as a Meteorologist at WTVR-TV in the Richmond, Virginia Area until May 2022. After working for WTVR, she worked as a Weekend Evening Meteorologist at 13News Now (WVEC) from May 2022 to December 2023.
Currently, she works for WPTV in West Palm Beach, Florida, United States as a weather forecaster. She’s overwhelmed to be forecasting weather in South Florida where she has experienced her first true hurricane season.
Peyton has a dog named Kensie, she rescued her while working at her first station in the hills of West Virginia. She enjoys exploring and hiking most of the trails with Kensie all through Virginia. Her hobbies include playing the guitar, pickleball, tennis, running, golfing, cycling, needle-pointing, and swimming.
She’s an Athlete having run five marathons and qualified for the Boston Marathon. In honor of her uncle who passed away, Peyton achieved her goal of $7,500 for Pancreatic Cancer and Research for Memorial Sloan Kettering.

Peyton was involved in a bad bike accident when a cat cross the bike path she was riding and she braked hard.
