Joanne Feldman is a renowned American 3x Emmy Award-winning and AMS Certified Broadcast Meteorologist working at FOX 5 (WAGA-TV) in Atlanta, Georgia. She joined the FOX 5 Storm Team in 2007 after previously working at WTVD (ABC11) in Raleigh/Durham, NC.
Education Background
Feldman attended Lassiter High School, where she earned her high school diploma. After graduating, she enrolled at the University of Georgia and completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Geography. She graduated magna cum laude and was inducted into the Phi Beta Kappa honor society. From there, she enrolled at Penn State University on a scholarship from the American Meteorological Society to pursue a master’s program in Meteorology. Feldman is the Chief Meteorologist at FOX 5 Atlanta and appears daily on Good Day Atlanta from 4:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. In addition to her on-air role, Feldman co-hosts the 10 a.m. lifestyle and entertainment hour, which she helped the station launch in April 2019.
Previously, she worked at WTVD (ABC11) in Raleigh/Durham, NC, as Chief Meteorologist for five years. Here, she covered Hurricane Isabel (2003), a historic ice storm, and tornado outbreaks. Before that, Feldman served as the weekend meteorologist at KMPH & KFSN in Fresno, California. Her career began at Penn State’s daily weather magazine, “Weather World”, where she was a graduate student forecaster for the daily weather magazine.
Occasionally, Feldman has been honored with three Emmy Awards: one for best weathercaster in the Southeast, and two for specialty reports on weather. Additionally, in 2011, she was voted “Favorite Weathercaster in Atlanta” by the readers of Jezebel Magazine. Off-screen, Feldman enjoys spending time with her husband, Chris, and their two children, attending ballet class, watching any good movie, and running.
