Kasey Marler Biography
Kasey Marler is an American Award Winning Sports Anchor and Reporter working as an Evening News Anchor at WJHL in Johnson City, Tennessee. He joined the station in March 2004 and initially worked as an Evening News Anchor and was recently promoted to his current role as a morning News Anchor.
Education | Career
Marler attended and graduated from the University of Nebraska with a Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism. After graduating he produced a local sports program. Marler also worked as a Sports Anchor at KLKN and KHGI (NTV) in Nebraska, then at KJRH in Tulsa, followed by nearly 10 years as a Weekend Sports Anchor at News Channel 11.
Initially, at WJHL he served as a Sports Anchor and Reporter but he was promoted to Weekend News Anchor in 2009 and continued as the Morning Anchor here. In 2023, he moved to the Evening Anchor position, rejoining several of his friends like Sara Diamond, Kenny Hawkins, and Mark Reynolds.
Over the years of his professional career, he has traveled the country covering some of the biggest events in sports. Some highlights include watching Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus, and Gary Player in one of their final events together. For Kasey, the thrill of a Touchdown Friday Night never goes away.
Kasey is proud that WJHL has given him the freedom and opportunity that led to the Tennessee Associated Press Best TV Sportscaster Awards in 2011-2012. He teamed up with Sports Director Kenny Hawkins for three Tennessee Best Sports Program Awards for TDFN and The Virginia Associated Press Award for Year-Round Sports Coverage in 2004.
