Chrystal Stone Biography
Chrystal Stone is an American Sports Journalist working as a Sports Reporter at WNYT NewsChannel 13 in Albany, New York. She joined the station in September 2023 and has worked there ever since. She was in pursuit of her master’s degree in sports journalism before joining her current station in.
Education | Career
Stone attended and graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a Theatre major. For nearly 2 decades she worked as an actor and executive assistant in New York City. In 2023, she attained her master’s degree in Sports Journalism from the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication at Arizona State University.
Having brought stories to life as an actor, Chrystal is excited now to tell the stories of athletes as a reporter. She currently serves as a Sports Reporter at WNYT NewsChannel 13 in Albany, New York. She joined the station in September 2023 after receiving her master’s degree.
While at the Cronkite School, she covered the Phoenix Mercury, Arizona Cardinals, Arizona Rattlers, and ASU and high school sports. She also interned at Arizona’s Family KTVK and KPHO. Chrystal has had a unique journey in sports media which started by winning a national debate contest for ESPN’s First Take in 2017.
Stone later appeared as a guest host on ESPN Radio’s Rothenberg and Medcalf show. In 2018, she co-hosted The Hangout weekly on ESPN Radio and hosted her own sports podcast, The Stone Truth. In her spare time, Chrystal enjoys working out, taking her dog to the park, watching live theatre, and watching true crime shows.
