Andy Malnoske Biography
Andy Malnoske is an American Emmy Award-Winning journalist working as a Sports Anchor and Reporter at WETM-TV in New York. He joined the station as a Sports Director after working at WSRM-TV in Syracuse. While there he covered the historic Final runs by the SU men’s and women’s basketball teams in 2016.
Education | Career
Andy attended and graduated from Ithaca College with a Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism. He then joined Shippensburg University where he attained his master’s degree in journalism. During his time in south-central Pennsylvania, Andy was the voice for several Red Raider athletic teams, worked in the sports information office, assisted CBS Harrisburg, and created a documentary on the 1990 Shippensburg Little League National Champions, which is now in the Little League Baseball Museum archives.
He currently serves as a Sports Anchor and Reporter at WETM-TV in Elmira, New York. Before joining his current station he worked as a Sports Journalist at WSTM-TV in Syracuse where he covered the historic final Four runs by the SU men’s and women’s basketball teams in 2016. His incredible work over the years has not gone unrecognized and he has received numerous awards and recognitions.
Andy is an Emmy Award-winning journalist and six-time Emmy nominee. He is the first Emmy winner in Elmira, Corning, and Ithaca television market history, which spans nearly 70 years of broadcasting. Further, Andy is the first-ever Edward R. Murrow Award winner in Elmira broadcasting history for sports reporting. Malnoske has also won the regional Murrow three consecutive years in the northeast.
Before moving to New York he worked for several stations across the state and took a few jobs here and there. He worked on “The Orange Zone,” a weekly take on Syracuse football and basketball. In this position, he covered Washington Nationals minor league baseball and Tampa Bay Lightning affiliate hockey while in Central NY.
Besides his position at WETM, Andy also serves on the board for the Chemung County Sports Hall of Fame, is a play-by-play voice for ESPN+ and has been a voice for 1410 WELM ESPN Radio in Elmira and RLM Sports in Corning. Additionally, he is a play-by-play announcer for Cornell University wrestling and lacrosse. He is also called Big Red women’s hockey, Elmira College athletics, covered The Super Bowl, Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), and more in his career.
A pro wrestling enthusiast, Andy is a two-time announcer audition finalist for World Wrestling Entertainment, and his work has appeared in Pro Wrestling Illustrated Magazine & the Pro Wrestling Hall of Fame and Museum. Andy is also an official ambassador for the International Pro Wrestling Hall of Fame (IPWHF) in Albany.
