Ali Lanyon Biography
Ali Lanyon is an American Emmy Award Winning Anchor and Reporter working as a Co-anchor of ABC27 Daybreak from 4:30-7 a.m. She joined the station in 2002 and initially served as a reporter before her promotion.
Education | Career
Lanyon attended and graduated from Hofstra University on Long Island where she graduated summa cum laude and played Division I field hockey. In 2023, she joined Elizabethtown College’s School of Public Service as an adjunct journalism professor.
Ali currently serves as the co-anchor of ABC27 Daybreak from 4:30-7 a.m. She joined the station in 2002 and initially served as a reporter. Over the years of her professional career, she has reported on everything from murder trials and tornado touchdowns to the Dillsburg Pickle Drop on New Year’s Eve.
Additionally, Ali has covered major political events including a one-on-one interview with Vice President Mike Pence leading up to the 2020 election. She has also covered several Presidential campaigns, Hillary Clinton’s 2008 primary victory in Pa. and the defeat of Senator Arlen Specter.
Ali has traveled to tell some of her most memorable stories. She reported on the anniversary of the 9-11 attacks from Shanksville, PA, went to Washington, D.C. to cover the death of President Ronald Reagan, and flew to New Orleans in the wake of Hurricane Katrina to follow local volunteer efforts.
Her work over the years has not gone unrecognized and she has received numerous awards and recognitions. She has earned five regional Emmy awards since joining ABC27. In 2010, she was awarded an Emmy for Outstanding On-Camera Reporter in the Features and Human Interest category.
Further, Ali received the same award for outstanding feature reporter in 2022. In 2024, ABC27 Daybreak was awarded the Emmy for Best Morning Newscast. Ali has also been honored numerous times by the Associated Press. Ali was named “Simply the Best” local TV personality by the readers of Harrisburg Magazine in 2019, 2020, 2022, 2023, and 2024.
