Smith attended and graduated from Southern Methodist University with a Degree in Theatre Performance in May 2004. She then joined Florida International University in August 2007 graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Meteorology in May 2010.

While in college she interned at WPLG ABC 10 in Miami. Smith also interned at WDSU NBC 6 in New Orleans, Louisiana. She began her professional career as a Weekend Meteorologist and Traffic Reporter at WVLA-TV in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She joined the station in November 2010 and after 6 months she left in April 2011.

Smith currently works as a meteorologist at WTVF NewsChannel 5 in Nashville, Tennessee. She has been part of the WTVF weather team since January 2016 and before this, she worked as a meteorologist at KSDK-TV NewsChannel 5 in Saint Louis, MO.

Bree is an Emmy-nominated meteorologist and a member of both the National Weather Association and the American Meteorological Society. In 2015 she received a Weathercast Certificate of Merit from the Missouri Broadcasters Association. She is thrilled to be joining the Storm 5 weather team and looks forward to serving middle Tennessee.
