Rebecca Schleicher Biography
Rebecca Schleicher is an American Emmy Award Winning Anchor and Reporter working as a Traffic Anchor at WTVF in Nashville, Tennessee. She joined the station in May 2015 and has worked there ever since. She initially served the station as a Reporter and Anchor and was promoted to News and Traffic Anchor in January 2016. Before joining her current station she served as a Reporter and Morning Anchor at Fox 25 in Oklahoma.
Education | Career
In 2009 Rebecca was in a program to study abroad at Tel Aviv University. She is however a graduate of The University of Texas where she attained a Bachelor’s Degree in Broadcast News and Government in 2010. While in college she interned at Fox 7 as a Part Time Reporter for 5 months.
Schleicher began her professional career at KCEN, initially serving as a Reporter and Web Producer. She joined the station in August 2010 and was promoted to Anchot in March 2011 leaving the station in April 2013 after 2 years and 2 months of service.
Schleicher currently serves as a Weekday Morning News and Traffic Anchor at WTVF NewsChannel 5 in Nashville, Tennessee. She joined the station in May 2015, initially serving as a Reporter and Anchor. She was then promoted to her current role in January 2016.
Since arriving in Nashville so much has happened in Nashville in recent years, and Rebecca has been there for all of it. Schleicher covered all aspects of the massive Transportation Plan and voter referendum in 2018.
Her work over the years has not gone unrecognized and she has received numerous awards and recognitions. She was honored with three Emmy awards for anchoring the coverage on those fateful days, before ever holding a news anchor position full-time. In 2022 WTVF named Rebecca anchor for the new 9 a.m. newscast.
When off her duties she loves exploring the area and knowing what’s going on in the community. She is a bit of a local guru, well-versed in the latest happenings and newest restaurants in town. Further, she loves to cook, which led her to start an herb and veggie garden during the pandemic.
Rebecca is also one of the few people who believe in giving back to the community. She volunteers with numerous community food drives, and the Nashville Rescue Mission and is trained as a volunteer coordinator with Hands on Nashville. Additionally, She goes to as many elementary schools as she can to serve as a guest reader and helps teach Sunday School at The Temple.
