Andrew Donovan Biography
Andrew Donovan is an American reporter serving at WSYR as a senior reporter, he joined the Station in July 2013. Since January 2022, Donovan has been a Host of Newsmakers at the station.
Andrew Donovan Career | Education
Donovan attended Whitesboro High School in 2004, graduating before joining Hobart and William Smith Colleges in 2008. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts, in Political Science / History in 2012. Donovan interned at NBC News at 30 Rockefeller Plaza, in the office of Senior Vice President Cheryl Gould and Executive Secretary/Digital Journalist Giacinta Pace from May 2010 to August 2010.
He began his career at Assist 2 Sell as an Office Assistant. Donovan worked there from May 2003 to July 2006 maintaining computers, answering telephones, and filing. In 2010, he became a Fill-in Executive Assistant at NBC Universal. Here, he filled in as the executive assistant to Lisa Gersh, the president of strategic initiatives for NBC Universal and NBC News, and the president of the Weather Channel Companies responsible for news and weather integration.
Donovan moved to Geneva, NY, and worked at Hobart and William Smith Colleges as a Social Media Coordinator. He worked here from January 2010 to May 2012 managing and developing social media initiatives for Hobart and William Smith Colleges which include Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Google+, Pinterest, and Storify. Additionally, he covered campus events for Daily Update on hws.edu along with live Tweeting big events.
In 2013, he moved to Washington D.C. to work as an Inauguration Runner. He Assisted producers and talent for NBC News’ coverage of the Second Inauguration of Barack Obama and worked with the staff of TODAY, NBC Nightly News, Meet The Press, and NBC News Specials and Political Units. Donovan then joined WKTV NewsChannel 2 in Utica, NY as a Reporter/Digital Media Producer.
He produced and enhanced digital media offerings provided by NewsChannel 2 and also Coordinated coverage of special events and large broadcasts. Donovan then joined his current station NewsChannel 9 WSYR in the Syracuse, New York Area where he has worked for almost twelve years. He initially joined the station in July 2013 as a senior reporter featuring daily for NewsChannel 9’s flagship daily evening newscasts, and featuring breaking news and enterprise stories focused on news of the day. Since January 2022, Donovan has been a Host of Newsmakers at the station.
