Ted McInerney is an American forecaster serving at WMTW as a morning meteorologist. He joined the Station in January 2016 after working as a meteorologist for CBS 42.

McInerney enrolled at Buffalo State University in 2003 and studied Geography, Meteorology, Climatology, and GIS. In 2005, he studied Spanish at AIP Language Institute – Valencia. He interned at WGRZ-TV in Buffalo, New York, United States as a Meteorologist from January 2006 to May 2006. In addition to that, McInerney interned at BSC-TV Campus Media as a Weathercaster from September 2006 to May 2007.
After working at BSC-TV, he joined WHBF-TV in Davenport, Iowa Area initially as a General Assignment Reporter / Photographer. McInerney worked there from December 2007 to March 2011 shooting, writing, editing, and delivering live news reports regularly. He was promoted in that same period to work as a Meteorologist.
At WHBF-TV in Davenport, Iowa Area, he Covered dangerous Midwest severe weather including a tornado warning for a metro area, Responsible for forecasting, producing, and delivering forecasts for weekend newscasts. Also, he served as a Fill Weather Anchor during primetime newscasts, poked at local schools, and conducted station tours, and Anchored Live Backyard Weather Forecasts.
After working for WHBF-TV, he joined CBS 42 in Birmingham, Alabama Area in March 2011 as a Meteorologist and left in December 2015. Currently, he works for WMTW in the Portland, Maine Area as a Morning Meteorologist. He has always dreamt of becoming a forecaster; by that, he used to update his fellow 5th graders by creating and posting his forecast paper on the door of his classroom.
McInerney’s fascination and passion made him join the State University of New York College at Buffalo where he studied meteorology. In 2007, he earned the Buffalo State Updraft Award for Excellence in Meteorology. McInerney and his team at WIAT in Birmingham earned prestigious awards for reporting the April 27th, 2011 tornadoes.
The story he covered of an elderly woman’s cat that appeared again in Tuscaloosa weeks after the tornado destroyed the area became extremely popular and is being shared by a large number of people on various social media platforms and unveiled his storytelling ability. What’s more, he is an associate of the National Weather Association & American Meteorological Society.
