Silvia Amaro is an English Anchor and Reporter working as a TV reporter at CNBC Europe in London covering European politics, economics, and financial markets. She joined CNBC in February 2023 and has been working there ever since. She is also a regular contributor to CNBC’s digital platform and has covered key events such as Brexit, Europe’s energy crisis, and G-20 and Nato Meetings.

Amaro attended and graduated from City University of London in 2014 with a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism. She also attended Summer School in 2014 where she was on a Science project (Sciences Po). She began her professional career as a Reporter at Market News International in Brussels Area, Belgium. Silvia joined the organization in October 2014 and after 2 years she left the station in September 2016.

Over the years of her professional career, she has landed exclusive interviews with key European officials, notably Europe’s competition chief Margrethe Vestager, Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, Europe’s trade chief Valdis Dombrovskis, and France’s finance minister Bruno Le Maire.
Further, she has also covered Europe’s reactions to Russia’s war in Ukraine, interviewing Russian Ambassador to the EU Vladimir Chizhov just days ahead of the full-scale invasion. In addition to her daily breaking news coverage, Silvia has done several short documentaries on climate change, Chinese investments in Europe, and the impact of the coronavirus pandemic on retail and tourism.
She has also hosted panels and moderated conversations with the European Central Bank, and International Monetary Fund, among others. In 2021, Silvia was awarded CFA ‘UK Broadcast Journalist of the Year’ for her report on “How to fix rising inequality during Covid-19.”
