Travis Lee Biography
Travis Lee is an American anchor serving at WMTW as the sports director and sports anchor. He joined the Station in April 2000 after working as a weekend sports anchor for WABI.
Travis Lee’s Career | Education
Lee graduated from Yarmouth High School before joining Ithaca College. As time went by, he graduated with a Bachelor’s degree. At Yarmouth High School, he was part of the baseball, basketball, and soccer teams. While still in Ithaca, he worked at NewsCenter 7 before relocating to his home state. He did a ‘play-by-play’ over the public address when he was no longer a little leaguer. One of his most outstanding sports occasions is the ‘Tuck Rule’ game between the Raiders and Patriots in 2001.
He is now working for the WMTW News 8 sports team as the sports director and sports anchor. Lee is a resident utility infielder at the station. There, he anchors, reports, produces, and fills in the gaps. He has worked with Craig Pushard who is also a sports director at WMTW News 8 sports team. Lee owns the “Steve Grogan for the Hall of Fame” club.
Before joining the team, Lee worked for WABI in Bangor as the weekend sports anchor. In New York, he felt he was acting in a way that goes against his stated beliefs. Lee didn’t find it fun to spend so much time talking about the Yankees and Mets. Additionally, he knows all about the great local rivalries in southern Maine.
Lee was named 2020’s Maine Sportscaster of the Year! The pandemic has created a great deal of challenges for both local and national sports. Moreover, he has appeared on other stations including WCVB-TV in Boston, MA, KMBC-TV in Kansas City, MO, WDSU-TV in New Orleans, LA, WMUR-TV in Manchester, NH, WPBF-TV in Palm Beach Gardens, FL, WLWT-TV in Cincinnati, OH e.t.c.
