Christy Henderson Biography
Christy Henderson is an American meteorologist serving as WSPA TV’s Chief Meteorologist. She joined the Station in 2003 after working as a freelancer for KTVT and WJLA-TV. She forecasts weather every Monday to Friday evening at 4, 5, 6, 7, 10, and 11 pm.

Henderson enrolled at Texas A&M University where she graduated with a B.S. degree in Meteorology in 1995. She began her career in Waco, Texas after working for eight months on Saturdays and Sundays, there she moved to New Orleans and joined the Fox affiliate, WVUE as the weekend meteorologist. She was later elevated to do the 5 pm weekday weather.
Henderson worked at the Fox affiliate, WVUE for more than three years. Here, her interest in studying tropical weather increased day by day. She was on the air in Southeast Louisiana (1997) as Hurricane Danny moved across Plaquemines parish and in 1998 when Hurricane Georges menaced the New Orleans and coastal areas before making landfall near Biloxi, Mississippi.
After moving across Plaquemines parish, she moved on to Atlanta, Georgia to broadcast the weather during the noon show each day and work on “Good Day Atlanta” as the morning meteorologist. There, she worked for almost four years and celebrities couldn’t stop coming to the station to interact with them. She did the weather with most of them including Ed McMahon, The Rock, and Kevin Bacon.
Before joining her current station, she worked for KTVT, the CBS affiliate in Fort Worth in Washington, D.C., and Texas at WJLA-TV as a freelancer. She currently works at WSPA-TV as a Chief Meteorologist. Additionally, she predicts the weather for two area radio stations and consults with Spartanburg District 5 Schools to be certain that planned activities stay safe from threatening weather.
Henderson is an associate of the American Meteorological Society and is a Certified Broadcast Meteorologist. She won the South Carolina Broadcasters Association Weathercaster of the Year six times and also won SCBA’s Personality of the Year for 2015, 2016, and 2017 three times. Above all, she has also won Spartanburg’s “Best of the Best” award which is won by popular vote.
