Christine Scarpelli Career | Education
Scarpelli enrolled at The University of South Carolina in 2006 and later graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Broadcast Journalism in 2010. While at The University, she served as a DJ at WUSC Radio Station, had a Minor in Political Science, Majored in Broadcast Journalismworked as a Staff member at Carolina Productions, and was a writer at the Daily Gamecock.
She also was a Creator, Anchor, Writer, and Photographer of “Talk of the Town” on Student Gamecock Television. Before graduating, she interned at the CBS affiliate WLTX and WACH Fox in Columbia. She began working for WSPA in the Columbia, S.C. bureau as a multimedia intern with Capitol Reporter Robert Kittle.
In 2010, she worked as a Reporter for Media General in Spartanburg, SC. That same year, Scarpelli joined WSPA in the Greenville-Spartanburg-Anderson, South Carolina Area where she worked as a news reporter. She works as a morning reporter and has a weekly segment called Let’s Eat.
While in the Columbia, S.C. bureau, she reported the 2010 gubernatorial election when South Carolina elected its first female governor Nikki Haley, shook the hand of President Obama on his visit to Columbia during his campaign, and covered Sarah Palin’s book signing of “America by Heart.”
Scarpelli is happy to call Spartanburg her home and tell the latest stories from the Upstate. She enjoyed some activities in Lake Placid including skiing, playing ice hockey, figure skating, and watching some athletes and role models in the world train and compete. When she’s not working, the things she does include being active outside, cheering on the NY Yankees, hiking, and cooking. Additionally, she speaks fluent Spanish and English.
