Montgomery went to Lakeridge High School; later, she attended Santa Monica College before transferring to the University of California, Los Angeles, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in philosophy in 2005, thanks to an academic scholarship. During her teenage years, Lisa interned as a DJ at KROQ radio in Los Angeles. She gained recognition on KROQ as “the Virgin Kennedy.” Lisa is presently performing her duties at the FOX News Channel station, serving as a contributor since she obtained employment in 2012.
Montgomery’s journey in media began in 1992, when she became a VJ on MTV. She hosted Alternative Nation from 1992 to 1997, and by 1995, she had become such a recognizable figure that the sitcom Murphy Brown introduced a character named McGovern, modeled after her. In 1999, Montgomery published her book Hey Ladies! Tales and Tips for Curious Girls, which incorporated many personal experiences. She then moved to Seattle in 1999 to host The Buzz on KQBZ radio. She later co-hosted a morning show called The Future with Ahmet & Kennedy and The Big House with Malibu Dan.
In 2002, Kennedy began hosting Game Show Network’s Friend or Foe? and later hosted Who Wants to Be Governor of California? in 2003. She also appeared as an occasional panelist on VH1’s Best Week Ever and MSNBC’s Scarborough Country. In December 2007, Lisa guest-hosted on KFI radio in Los Angeles before becoming a regular Sunday afternoon host. She later co-hosted the Kennedy & Suits Show until 2009. From 2009 to 2014, she hosted Music in the Mornings on KYSR in Los Angeles.
In 2011, she appeared as Anthony Sullivan’s assistant on ‘PitchMen.’ Lisa joined Fox Business Network as a contributor in 2012 and co-hosted The Independents from 2013 to 2015. Following the cancellation of The Independents, she continued as the host of her own program, ‘Kennedy.’ In March 2020, Kennedy’s show was put on hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic but returned in October 2020. However, in May 2023, Fox Business announced the end of Montgomery after eight years. Lisa then started her podcast, ‘Kennedy Saves The World,’ in June 2023.
Montgomery is also a contributor to Reason.com and Reason. tv and occasionally guest hosts on KFI. She has appeared on various Fox talk shows such as ‘Outnumbered,’ ‘The Five’, and ‘Gutfeld!’ From June 2023 to January 2024, Montgomery served as a regular host of Fox News Saturday Night. In March 2024, she became a columnist for The Daily Mail.
