Morris pursued business administration at Franciscan University of Steubenville in Ohio, where he held the role of vice president of the University Student Government. At 21, he entered the seminary and studied in Rome, Italy, earning degrees in classical humanities, philosophy, and theology. Morris was ordained a priest in the order of the Legion of Christ in 2002 and remained in Rome. In 2004, he achieved a graduate Licentiate degree in moral theology from Pontifical Athenaeum Regina Apostolorum with high honors.

He expressed his intention to ask Pope Francis to release him from the duties and commitments of the clerical state, a decision he had contemplated extensively and discussed with his spiritual advisors. Morris made it clear that his decision wasn’t because of a relationship but because he wanted inner peace and to follow what he believed God wanted for him. Pope Francis said yes to his request, and Cardinal Timothy Dolan agreed to allow Morris to stop working as a priest.

Shortly after leaving the priesthood, Morris teamed up to establish Morris & Larson Advisors, an executive coaching firm. He also remains active as a contributor for Fox News. In July 2020, Morris shared news of his engagement to Kaitlyn Folmer, a 37-year-old reporter, with ABC News. The couple tied the knot in October 2020 at St. Patrick’s Cathedral in New York City.

From 2002 to 2004, Morris served as a theological advisor for Mel Gibson’s film “The Passion of the Christ.” During Pope John Paul II’s final illness in March 2005 and his subsequent passing in April, Morris provided reports and analysis for CNN, Fox News Channel, BBC, and Sky News. He was interviewed by notable figures such as Bill Hemmer, Larry King, Shepard Smith, Anderson Cooper, and Christiane Amanpour. Following this, Morris received offers from multiple networks to contribute further reports, ultimately choosing to work with Fox News Channel. In his role there, he proposed covering not only Vatican news but also analyzing broader news stories from an ethical perspective.

Since April 2005, Morris’s work has expanded to cover topics beyond the Vatican. He has appeared on a number of Fox News Channel shows, such as The O’Reilly Factor, Fox & Friends, Dayside, Hannity and Colmes, and The Live Desk with Martha MacCallum. In addition, he has written for Fox Business Network and taken part in The Strategy Room, an online news discussion hosted by Fox News.com.

In May 2009, Morris began a recurring segment on Fox News Channel’s late-night news/comedy show Red Eye called “Father Knows Best,” where he answered viewer questions on religious and faith-related matters.
