McGlowan went to Oxford’s Lafayette High School. She later enrolled at the University of Mississippi, where, in 1993, she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in public administration with a focus on political science and criminal justice. She participated in the Rebelettes, the university’s dance squad, while she was a student.[9] In 1993, she was Miss Magnolia. Angela was the USA’s 1994 Miss District of Columbia.
She currently plays her role as a political analyst for FOX News Network to continue her coverage of lobbying, special interest groups, and politics since she rejoined after first joining the station in 1999. McGlowan is the founder and CEO of Political Strategies & Insights (PSI), a consulting firm based in Washington, D.C., and Oxford, Mississippi. In addition, she was the former host of “Good Day Street Talk” in New York, the bestselling author of “BAMBOOZLED,” and a regular political pundit on PBS, FOX 5, and BET.
McGlowan worked for News Corporation chairman Rupert Murdoch as director of government affairs and diversity development from 1999 to 2005. In this role, she was responsible for implementing diversity initiatives within the Fox Entertainment Group and its own interests. Additionally, she lobbied Congress on behalf of News Corporation to support corporate objectives.
McGlowan’s career began as director of outreach for the Better America Foundation under its honorary chairman, Sen. Bob Dole. Here, she held policy meetings with members of Congress and acted as a spokesperson for independent and Republican constituencies interested in policy goals. In the 1994 Miss USA pageant, she also competed on behalf of the District of Columbia. McGlowan has also served as press secretary to the Honorable John Ensign, representing Nevada’s 1st District, and as a public affairs assistant for Mirage Resorts, Inc.

In addition to being a professor and a United Methodist minister, her father James Thomas McGlowan was also a community activist, a civil rights worker, and the first principal of Hernando Central Elementary School (now known as Oak Grove Central Elementary School), a facility for African-American students in grades 1 through 12 during the Jim Crow era. He passed away from cancer in 1982 when she was just 12 years old.
