After earning her high school diploma, Banderas enrolled at Emerson College in 1996 to pursue a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Broadcast Journalism.
Following her graduation, Julie faced a period of job search before securing a position. Eventually, she commenced her career as a News Anchor at WHSV-TV, part of Gray Television, from October 1997 to July 1999. Subsequently, she held the role of News Anchor/Reporter at WBRE-TV/WYOU-TV from January 1999 to January 2000. Later, she transitioned to the position of News Reporter at WFSB TV from January 2000 to December 2001.
Following her previous roles, Banderas transitioned to become a News Anchor and Reporter at Fox 5 (WNYW-TV New York) from January 2002 to November 2005. Subsequently, she continued her journey as a News Anchor at Fox News Media, where she has been employed full-time since 2005.
Throughout her time at FNC, Julie covered numerous significant news events. These included the papal inauguration of Pope Francis, Hurricane Sandy, and Hurricane Dennis. Additionally, she also covered the disappearance of Natalee Holloway in Aruba.
