Amanda DeVoe Biography
Amanda DeVoe is an American Emmy Award-winning Journalist working at News4Jax serving as The Morning Show News and Traffic Anchor since she joined the station in March 2022. Formerly, DeVoe worked at WKRG as a full-time Traffic Anchor and Reporter.
Amanda DeVoe Education
DeVoe graduated from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte with a bachelor’s degree in communication studies. She also holds a master’s degree in journalism from DePaul University She enrolled at historically Black Fayetteville State University to start her college career. In addition, she used to serve on the board of the Chicago chapter of the National Association of Black Journalists and is an active member of the organization.
Since she was a small child, writing has always been her love. The fifth grade was when she started her school newspaper. When a news reporter visited her English class as a junior in high school, she knew that broadcasting news was what she wanted to do.

Amanda was a traffic anchor and reporter for the Mobile, Alabama, CBS affiliate prior to joining WJXT. DeVoe takes care to provide a voice to the voiceless, whether it’s a young woman with cerebral palsy who at last had an employer take a chance on her or Black-owned businesses regaining vitality after coronavirus shutdowns.
When three University of South Alabama professors were caught wearing racist costumes that turned up on Facebook a few years later, Amanda broke the exclusive scoop. Students protested after her probe, and the teachers were put on administrative leave while the matter was looked into. She also only talked to a Black cheerleader who stood up to her teammates for posing in a shirt with the Confederate flag on it. Both tales attracted national attention.
In Rockford, Illinois, Amanda began her career as a reporter and anchor. There, she covered a wide range of topics, including politics, crime, and education. She also held positions as a reporter and producer in Chicago and Milwaukee, Wisconsin. DeVoe aspired to become a journalist because she wanted to tell stories that would empower communities of color and hold those in positions of authority accountable.
