Peta Sheerwood Biography
Sheerwood Peta is an American-Jamaican journalist serving at WRAL-TV as a meteorologist in Raleigh, North Carolina. She joined the station in February 2019 after working as a meteorologist for WOWT NBC Omaha.

Sherwood earned her Bachelor of Science in Telecommunication, Minor in Geography, and Certificate in Climatology and Meteorology from the University of Florida. She later obtained a Master of Science in Geosciences from Mississippi State University.
Peta’s professional journey began with an internship at The Miami Herald in August 2010, where she contributed to various news articles and prepared briefs. Transitioning to an Alumni Leader role at College Summit in June 2012, she educated over 200 Peer Leaders on college applications, personal statements, financial aid, and peer leadership.
Sheerwood’s involvement extended to volunteering at WUFT-FM Radio Reading Services from January 2012 to May 2013, followed by roles at WUFT News and WCJB TV20 as a producer, reporter, and intern.
Peta continued her meteorological pursuits with internships at WPLG and later joined KOLN/KGIN-TV 10/11 News as a Meteorologist and Video Journalist. At WOWT NBC Omaha from October 2016 to February 2019, she delivered precise weather forecasts for various programs.
In February 2019, Sherwood joined WRAL-TV as a meteorologist, contributing to the WRAL News+ Streaming platform and delivering on-air forecasts for WRAL News Weekend Morning shows and WRAL News at 9 am on weekdays, among other duties. She has played her role until March 2024 accumulating 5 years at WRAL-TV.
