Jon Shainman Biography
Jon Shainman is an American journalist serving at WPTV as a News Anchor. He joined the Station in August 2009 after working as an Anchor for WPBF-TV.
Jon Shainman Career | Education
Shainman hosted his music show in Secondary school and was the play-by-play voice for the school’s football games. He enrolled at Northwestern University in 1985 and graduated with a degree in Radio-TV-Film in 1989. Here, he broadcasts tons of athletic events including football and baseball.
He began his career at WGMD-FM in Rehoboth Beach, DE as a News Anchor and Sports Talk Host from 1989 to 1993. He then left and joined WBOC-TV as an Anchor and Reporter in Salisbury, MD/Dover, DE for almost five years. In 1998, he joined WPBF-TV as an Anchor in Palm Beach Gardens till 2009. Shainman now works as an Anchor and Multi-Media Journalist at WPTV in West Palm Beach, Florida Area.
Since he began working in South Florida, he has earned several broadcasting awards and reported numerous biggest stories in the area from the field, and on the anchor desk, including the hurricanes that roared ashore in 2004 and 2005, the Presidential election of 2000, and the aftermath of the anthrax attacks.
Apart from being on the desk, he hosts many charity events for groups as diverse, as Children’s Place at HomeSafe, Lymphoma Society, Hearts and Hope, and the Leukemia. He has always wanted to be a broadcaster since he was a child recording his newscasts, using his younger brother as a viewer.
