Susan Roesgen Biography
Susan Roesgen is an American Journalist working at WGNO News, serving as a News Anchor and Reporter since she joined the station in January 2011. Formerly, Roesgen worked at CNN as a Correspondent.

Roesgen studied at Montana State University, Bozeman, and received her Bachelor of Arts in English Literature. In addition, she enrolled at Loyola University in New Orleans to go toward a master’s in counseling.
Susan is presently performing her duties at WGNO News, as a news anchor and reporter since she became part of the network in January 2011. With both domestic and foreign experience, Susan Roesgen is an anchor and reporter who has been assigned by the U.S. Army in Haiti, traded for a camel in Cairo, and taken a boat ride on the Sea of Galilee in Israel.
After spending a few years working in local television, Susan received an invitation to co-host “National Geographic Today,” an international news and cultural affairs show airing from National Geographic headquarters in Washington, D.C., in 2001 Her research included an Egypt-based multi-part series with Egyptian archaeologist Zahi Hawass, a story on the raising of a Civil War submarine in Charleston, and in-depth conversations with famous conservationist Jane Goodall and Titanic discoverer Bob Ballard.
After moving back to New Orleans in 2002, Susan started working as a freelance reporter for NPR’s “All Things Considered,” “Morning Edition,” and other NPR shows. She also joined the public radio station WWNO and began working part-time as an anchor and reporter for WGNO-TV in 2003.
In 2020, she was assigned co-host of the 5, 6, and 10 pm programs. Furthermore, she also resumed her part-time reporting and anchoring duties for WGNO. Additionally, Susan has earned certification in teaching English as a second language (ESL). As a result, she works as a volunteer English teacher for the neighborhood’s immigrant population

Due to Susan’s Hurricane Katrina coverage for NPR and WGNO, CNN hired her as the network’s first Correspondent for the Gulf Coast Bureau, which opened in New Orleans in 2005. In 2007, CNN sent Roesgen to their Chicago bureau after she spent two years reporting on the Gulf Coast’s recovery efforts
She provided daily live shots for “Anderson Cooper 360,” “The Situation Room with Wolf Blitzer,” and all other CNN programs as part of her reporting for the network. Her tales included the demise of Michael Jackson in Los Angeles, the arrest of Texas polygamists, the impeachment of Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich, and numerous hurricanes, tornadoes, snowstorms, and floods.
