Jeff Berardelli is an American Weather Forecaster working at WFLA News, serving as a Chief Meteorologist and Climate Specialist since he joined the station in 2022. Formerly, Berardelli worked at CBS News as a Meteorologist and Climate Specialist.
Jeff Berardelli Career/Education
In the 1990s, Berardelli graduated with a bachelor’s degree in atmospheric sciences from Cornell University. He returned to school recently to study climate after noticing the recent increase in extreme weather, and he graduated from Columbia University with a master’s degree in Climate and Society. He believes that knowing and communicating the effects of climate change on extreme weather and society is an essential part of being a TV meteorologist in the modern era.
Jeff is presently performing his duties at WFLA News, serving as a chief meteorologist and climate specialist since he became part of the network in 2022. Additionally, he is the captain of the Max Defender 8 Weather Team. Berardelli has over 20 years of experience predicting severe weather in Florida and appears on the shows at four, five, six, seven, and 11 pm. Since he was three years old, Jeff has had a severe obsession with the weather.
Serving viewers in the Tampa Bay area for the second time, Jeff was employed here as a meteorologist and fishing/boating reporter from 1997 until 2003. Since it has always been his dream to return to Tampa Bay and settle there permanently, Jeff views his return as a homecoming.
Berardelli makes his way back to the Tampa Bay region from New York City, where he worked as a CBS News climate specialist and meteorologist for the last few years. In this role, he gave weather updates for CBS Mornings, traveled the nation covering environmental stories as a climate correspondent, and produced scientific analyses for a variety of platforms. Former positions held by him include weekend meteorologist at WFOR in Miami, lead meteorologist at WPEC in West Palm Beach, and weekend meteorologist at WCBS in New York City.
